I never thought India in the current Test series would be 2 down after the second test between India and Australia. If India was playing the Australian 11 then i would not have believed this result. But against an Australian 11 + the 3 Umpires officiating this test match, can be imagined as a fair result. That has been the highlight of this Test Match between India and Australia at the SCG.
A bit of Intro of the Umpires is surely Justified here...
Steve Bucknor - Very Experienced Umpire from the west Indies. Has been known for some bad decisions against the Indians but also has been lauded for the immense experience and high quality of umpiring in the past.
Mark Benson - A new comer if you compare him with Bucknor's experience.
Bruce Oxenford - An Australian.
Australia were on the mat at 134 for 6. It could have been a different story even before this. Australia finished very strongly with 463 runs in the first innings. All credit to the Umpires. Including the third Umpire.
Wrong decisions all the way. How can a thick edge be missed by an umpire like Steve bucknor? I will give the benifit of the doubt for Lbw and faint edges to the umpires, but not thick edges. Terrible Umpiring!!!!!
Most Umpires in ODI's and Tests have started referring the slightest of doubtful or even very clear not out decisions to the 3rd Umpire for confirmation and in this case the Umpires dont refer a few decisions to be made by the 3rd Umpire. What was Bucknor thinking. His eyesight must be the best in the world...
Ok they referred a decision to the 3rd Umpire, well what can be said about this, the 3rd Umpire this time gets into the save Australia mode and gives the batsman not out when replays clearly show that the batsman was out. What the hell was the Match referee sitting besides the 3rd Umpire doing at that point of time??? I cant believe a 3rd umpire can make such errors when you have slow motion replays from all sorts of angles in the cricket field nowadays.
OK India did well by taking a lead in the first Innings, but again some decisions go against India to cost India the Match..
I may ask "Why this has to Happen against India always?". It happens in cricket you may say.
Not Often do you get to see a 11 vs 14 Match and that too at the highest level. There were at least 7-8 decisions against India in this test match. Looking at Steve Bucknors decisions against India in the past, i believe he should be thrown out of the Umpiring panel. He should be sacked with Immediate effect!!!!!!!!
As far as Mark Benson is concerned, he is getting a really good experience of giving bad decisions, this should be highlighted in his resume hereafter...
Bad Luck India.... You played really well....
